Group food order app expands to Romanian capital

20 July 2017

Software developer Cloud Treats Romania, based in Cluj-Napoca in Western Romania, has launched in Bucharest an app called hipMenu for online group food orders. The app is mainly targeted at employees.

The app works in Cluj-Napoca, Oradea and Timisoara. It launched in 2013 and has generated over EUR 13 million in sales for partner restaurants, EUR 5 of which million last year, according to the company, reports local News.ro.

At the moment only those living in Bucharest’s District 1 and 2 can use the app, but the company is planning to expand to the other districts.

"We see a tremendous profit potential in the corporate luncheon area. We have delivered eight portions on average, instead of two servings per delivery address, thanks to this group order system, which not only cuts costs, but also streamlines delivery times," said Valentin Piescu, operational manager of the Pizzicato restaurant.

The Cluj-Napoca software developer has recently improved the app to provide menu translation into 15 languages. Some of the partner restaurants in Bucharest include La Mama, Zensushi, Pizzicato, El Torito, Noodles Bar or Burger Avenue.
