Get ready to bike: night biking event, skirts on bikes and 50 km marathon

05 May 2010

Biking has become a must in Bucharest these days and more and more biking events are being organized every week - there are three such upcoming events in the next two weeks. The first, the night biking tour takes place on Friday, May 7, starting 20,00 hours. The event is organized by Cicloteque, a bike rental service within Mai Mult Verde (More Green) non-profit organization.

The route of the biking session can be found here.  There will be 60 bikes available for the night route, each for a price of RON 10.

The second biking event is..well, without trying to discriminate, only for women. It's called SkirtBike and it's organized by Velo Bello. It will take place on Saturday, May 15, at 11,00 hours, starting from the Romanian peasant's Museum. The bike is the new little black dress, say the organizers, the non-profit organization Bate Saua sa Priceapa Iapa.

Last but not least, and actually the most challenging biking event will take place this week, on Sunday, May 10. It's a cross country biking marathon, between Bucharest and Snagov (50 km), organized by the Romanian Mountain Club and NoMad Adventure Team. 400 bikers are expected to attend and try to win, as this is a competition. You can sign up for this event at the Romanian Peasant Museum on 3rd Kiseleff St, Monetariei entrance.
