Foreign investments drop in Romania

Foreign direct investments in Romania dropped in January and February this year compared to the same period of 2017. They reached EUR 794 million, down 3.17% year-on-year.

Meanwhile, the number of new companies with foreign capital opened during this period grew by 6.8%, to 848 such companies.

Throughout 2017, 5,837 firms with foreign capital were registered in Romania, which was 9.1% higher than in 2016. Some 215,600 such companies registered in Romania between 1991 and 2017, 45,500 of which have Italian shareholders.

However, the highest share capital value belongs to companies with Dutch ownership, some USD 12.2 billion.
