Fewer companies with foreign capital established in Romania in first seven months

The number of companies with foreign capital established in Romania in the first seven months of this year was 4.7% lower compared to the same period of 2017, at 3.337 units.

However, the social capital of these new firms totaled USD 36.3 million, up 86% compared to the first seven months of last year, according to data from the Trade Registry’s Office (ONRC).

In July, 479 new companies with foreign capital were registered in Romania, most of them in Bucharest – 221, Timis – 34 and Cluj – 25.

Close to 219,000 companies with foreign capital were registered in Romania at the end of July this year, over a quarter of which (46,555) were controlled by Italian investors. However, Netherlands continues to be the main source of foreign capital in Romania, with total investments of over USD 12.5 billion in 5,205 local companies.
