Dutch singer Oscar Benton to perform in Romania this autumn

Dutch singer Oscar Benton will perform in Romania on November 2 this year, at Sala Palatului in Bucharest. The artist and his band will play for about 90 minutes, starting 19:00.

Oscar Benton, 64, founded the Oscar Benton Blues Band in 1967. A year later, in 1968, the band released its first album, Feel So Good, followed by The Blues Is Gonna Wreck My Life album in 1969. In 1974, the band changed members and also the name, becoming Blue Eyed Baby, while Oscar Benton changed his stage name to Billy Boy Bishop.

The Dutch singer started his solo career in 1981, when he also released his album Bensonhurst Blues, written by Artie Kaplan and Artie Kornfeld. Bensonhurst Blues is considered to be Oscar’s best hit and was part of the soundtrack of the 1999 movie La Buche. Romanian singer Margareta Paslaru sings this song under the title Spuneam Ca Nu-Mi Pasa (Bui Bui Bui), while another singer, Aurelian Andreescu, also recorded a Romanian language version of this song.

In 2011, Oscar Benton released his CD album, Oscar Benton is Still Alive.

Tickets for this concert cost between RON 100 and RON 900 and can be purchased online here.
