Anticorruption prosecutors sent to court under judicial control Dumitru Dragomir, the former president of Romania’s Professional Football League, and Ioan Bendei, the former manager of the telecom and cable operator RCS&RDS, for bribery and complicity to money laundering.

The bribe was subsequently masked in the form of payments made under a joint venture agreement concluded between a firm controlled by Dumitru Dragomir and the cable company, according to prosecutors.
