Canadian actor Donald Sutherland had an accident at the Bucharest hotel where he was staying last week, Mediafax reported. The actor slipped on the stairs and the emergency service SMURD was called in. He refused to be taken to the hospital.
The 83-year-old, who in 2017 received an honorary Oscar for his entire career, has been working in film for more than five decades. Some of his best-known films are A Time to Kill, Cold Mountain, The Italian Job, and Disclosure.
He won two Golden Globe awards for the 1996 film Citizen X, for which he also received an Emmy award, and for Path to War. He is the recipient of a Golden Satellite award for Without Limits.
His latest film is The Leisure Seeker, where he stars alongside Hellen Mirren. The film was screened in Romania at the recently ended Dakino festival.
