Deutsche Telekom’s Romanian subsidiaries Romtelecom, Cosmote kick off re-branding as 'T', process to end in fall

30 May 2014

Romanian telecom companies Romtelecom and Cosmote, owned by Deutsche Telekom via Greek OTE, officially announced the upcoming brand change under Deutsche Telekom’s T brand.

The two companies get ready to launch services under the new brands, they announced, without revealing the new commercial names associated with Deutsche Telekom. The re-branding process should end this fall.

Other companies controlled by OTE, such as Germanos Telecom Romania, Sunlight Romania Filiala Bucuresti, NextGen and Telemobil, will not change their names and their brand identities.
The re-branding under the T brand will involve re-designing shops, launching new products, communication campaigns, and a joint online presence, among others.

The brand change was decided in the OTE’s Extraordinary General Shareholders’ Meeting at the end of April this year.

With Deutsche Telekom’s imprint, one of the world’s leading integrated telecommunications groups, we are even stronger. We had an amazing track so far, and this is the beginning of a new and very exciting era”, said Nikolai Beckers, Chief Executive Officer Romtelecom and COSMOTE Romania.
