A national online Price Navigator will be developed by the Romanian Government with a EUR 2 million budget, allowing customers to check and compare weekly prices for certain products in stores across the country. The project should be ready in a year and will include items on the daily basket.

The state-backed program 'Buy Romanian products' ('Cumpara Romaneste') will be shaped in the next two to three months and will receive EUR 1 million in European financing, according to Economy Minister Ion Ariton. The main purpose of the program is to stimulate the sale of domestic products. The program will also includes debates on creating a public policy to stimulate the purchase of more Romanian-made items.

The Senate on Tuesday passed by unanimous vote a Government's draft law concerning some expropriation measures in the case of projects of national, local and county interest, as amended by the Committee on Privatisation and the Judicial Committee.

uropean movie lovers will be able to watch representative Norwegian films at the upcoming Norwegian Movie Days in Bucharest between October 27 and 29, at the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR). The event, organized by the Norwegian Embassy to Bucharest and ICR, will include five movies with free entry.

Three Kenyan runners won the Bucharest City Marathon which took place in Bucharest on Sunday, October 17. Duncan Koech came first in the race, followed by James Cheruiyot and by John Maluni Katio on the third position. The women race was won by a runner from Belarus, Svietlana Konhan.

Employees of Romania’s state-owned subway company Metrorex threaten to go on strike in December if their bonuses for special working conditions are eliminated from the company’s budget. Union leader Ion Radoi told a news conference Monday employees might trigger a work conflict mid-November and go as far as staging a full-blown strike if the Government lowers the company's budget or eliminates workers' bonuses for special conditions when it drafts the 2011 state budget.
