Andrei studied finance at the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies and started his journalism career in 2004 with Ziarul Financiar, the leading financial newspaper in Romania, where he worked for ten years, the last six of which as editor of the capital markets section. He joined the Romania-Insider.com team in 2014 as editor and became Editor-in-Chief in 2016. He currently oversees the daily content published on Romania-Insider.com and likes to stay up to date with everything relevant in business, politics, and life in Romania. Andrei lives with his family in the countryside in Northern Romania, where he built their own house. In his free time, he studies horticulture and tends to his family’s garden. The antiquarian bookshelves in Universitate area of Bucharest will no longer tell a dull, gray story when closed during the evening. They will be painted with realistic-comical scenes in the everyday life in Bucharest by a group of artists involved in the 'I Love Bucharest' – the Adventures of Mr. Urban project. The organizers of this project are 'Asociatia din Pod' (The Attic Association) and Mora Foundation. The 22 bookshelves will be painted with comic-like drawings. The artists have already started to work on this project and should be ready in two weeks.

Vienna Insurance Group's companies active in Romania posted EUR 274 million of gross subscribed premiums in the first half of the year, a drop of 12.5 percent compared to the same period of 2009. However, VIG grew its profit in Romania by 18.7 percent, to EUR 14.3 million during this period. VIG owns BCR Asigurari de Viata, BCR Asigurari, Omniasig, Omniasig Life and Asirom in Romania.

France has started sending back to Romania the illegal Roma immigrants it had found in the country, with the first batch due to arrive on Thursday. 93 Romanian citizens of Roma ethnicity will be sent back on two commercial flights today, followed by others in the next days, according to Mediafax newswire quoting data from the Foreign Affairs Ministry. These are all voluntary repatriations and each Roma received EUR 300 to return to Romania, while for children the compensation was of EUR 100.

Local company Avicarvil has finalized the first stage of the investment in “La Provincia, pui de casa” (La Provincia, farm chicken), whose business model relies on raising chicken in a traditional way and then selling poultry on the Romanian market. The company plans to invest in a a fodder factory which should be fueled by locally-produced fodder.
