Construction work in Romania drops by almost 20% in April
Construction work in Romania decreased by 19.6% in April this year compared to April last year, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The result was affected by the decline in infrastructure work and non-residential constructions. Meanwhile, residential constructions saw a significant advance during this period.
It was the fourth month of decrease in 2017, after a 1.1% decline in January, 3.4% in February, and 1% in March. In total, the construction sector dropped by 5.8% in the first four months of this year compared to the same period last year.
In April, the infrastructure work recorded the most significant decline, of 40.1%, but housing constructions increased substantially, by 39.7%.
In 2016, the construction sector dropped by 4.8% compared to the previous year, after an advance of 10.4% in 2015.
