Romania’s Competition Council approves A&D Pharma takeover

Romania’s Competition Council authorized the transaction through which Czech-Slovak investment fund Penta Investments took over A&D Pharma Holding, the biggest local pharmaceutical distribution and retail group.

Penta Investments’ subsidiary Glebi Holding agreed to sell 18 drug stores under the Arta brand that it owns in Romania as part of the deal.

This is the biggest transaction on the local pharmaceutical market in recent years, with an estimated value of EUR 350 million.

Penta Investments is also active in Romania in the gambling and medical sectors.

Local law firm RTPR Allen & Overy assisted A&D Pharma’s shareholders in this transaction.
