Code Yellow warning for rain, storms in Bucharest, 31 counties

The capital and 31 counties in the south, east, and central part of the country are under a Code Yellow warning for rain and storms. The warning is in place beginning July 23, at 10:00 until the evening of July 24, at 23:00.

Throughout this period, meteorologists expect atmospheric instability in the country’s southern, eastern and central region, and in the hill and mountain areas. These regions will see heavy rain, lightning, heavy winds and at times hail. The accumulated water quantities are to exceed 25 – 30 liters per sqm, and in certain areas even 50 – 60 liters per sqm.

Atmospheric instability is expected throughout the week in Bucharest, where the temperatures will be slightly cooler. The maximum temperatures are expected to be around 28 degrees Celsius, while rain is expected most of the days.

At the same time, another Code Yellow warning for flooding is in place until July 25 at 16:00. The warning concerns the rivers in the basins of Mureş, Târnava Mică, Târnava Mare (Harghita, Mureş, Sibiu and Alba counties), Olt (Harghita and Covasna counties), Vedea (Argeş, Olt and Teleorman counties), Argeş (Argeş, Dâmboviţa, Teleorman, Giurgiu and Ilfov counties), Ialomiţa (Dâmboviţa, Prahova and Ialomiţa counties), Buzău (Braşov, Covasna and Buzău counties), Bistriţa (Suceava, Neamţ, Harghita and Bacău counties), Trotuş, (Harghita, Covasna, Bacău, Neamţ and Vrancea counties), Putna, Rȃmnicu Sărat (Buzău and Vrancea counties), Bârlad (Iaşi, Neamţ, Vaslui, Vrancea, Bacău and Galaţi counties), Siret (Vrancea and Galaţi counties), Prut (Vaslui and Galaţi counties), and small rivers in Dobrogea (Constanţa and Tulcea counties).
