City Hall receives 230 Bucharest logo proposals, will announce winner beginning of May

24 April 2017

The Bucharest City Hall received over 230 proposals in the competition for a new logo of the Romanian capital and will announce the winner on May 3, mayor Gabriela Firea said, quoted by Agerpres.

The submissions will be validated in the coming days, and the members of the jury tasked with selecting the winner will assess them. The winner will receive an award of RON 50,000 (approximately EUR 11, 120), in gross value. The sum represents the exclusive and unlimited release of copyright to the city of Bucharest.

The jury will look at such aspects as relevance, attractiveness, originality, functionality and adaptability of the logo, which would allow further declination for sectorial brands, such as Cultural Bucharest, Tourist Bucharest, Musical Bucharest or Sports Bucharest.

The jury is made up of: Bucharest mayor Gabriela Firea; artist and professor Mircia Dumitrescu, a corresponding member of the Romanian Academy; Adrian Majuru, the director of the Bucharest City Museum; Anca Boeriu, a lecturer at the Bucharest Arts University UNARTE; Vladimir Nicula, a lecturer at the Ion Mincu Architecture and Urbanism University; Ioana Ciocan, a vice president of the Artists’ Union; Dochița Zenoveiov of branding agency Inoveo; Bogdan Naumovici, managing partner of 23 Communication Ideas; Corina Vințan, managing partner of Links Associates; and sociologist Mirel Palada.
