Cinema City Romania opens largest multiplex outside Bucharest with EUR 5 mln

Cinema City has opened a new multiplex cinema at Ploiesti Shopping City, which is the largest cinema in Romania outside of capital Bucharest. The new multiplex has over 2,000 seats and 12 digital screens, seven of which support 3D projections, with Dolby Sound throughout. The total investment in the new multiplex was of EUR 5 million.

The cinema opens its doors on December 7 and coming up in the first week are The Words, with Bradley Cooper, Olivia Wilde, Zoe Soldana and Jeremy Irons, The Man with the Iron Fists, starring Russel Crowe and Lucy Liu, as well as a preview of the new film adaptation of Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina, featuring Keira Knightley and Jude Law.

The new Ploiesti cinema is the 14th in Cinema City’s chain. The firm also operates cinemas elsewhere in Eastern Europe, while in Romania Cinema City runs multiplexes in Bucharest, Pitesti, Iasi, Timisoara, Arad, Cluj, Targu Mures, Bacau Baia Mare, Braila and Constanta, in total 135 halls with 24,000 seats.
