Bucharest’s District 3 City Hall wants to build a water park and an amusement park in the district’s Pantelimon Park, the value of the works being estimated at about EUR 112 million (some EUR 24 million), local Hotnews.ro reported.

The District 3’s Local Council approved earlier this week the contract specifications and the contract model. The municipal companies are to be in charge of this project, which should be completed in six months, plus two other months needed for the design. The project also includes the refurbishment of the Pantelimon Park.

The water park is to include various slides, lazy river, children's pools for various age groups, sunbeds, changing rooms, showers, and a ticketing system, among other things. Meanwhile, the amusement park will feature zip lines, a roller coaster and playgrounds.

The District 2 City Hall also built an amusement park in the Tei Park with EU funds. The project required an investment of EUR 14 million and 7 hectares of green space. However, two years after the inauguration, the park is mostly empty. It attracted only 10,000 visitors in the first three months of this year, according to Hotnews.ro.
