Bucharest City Hall will organize its first job fair

27 April 2017

The Bucharest City Hall is planning to organize its first job fair to find employees for the new companies it will set up.

The Bucharest City Council recently approved the creation of 20 companies that will offer various public utility services and will be subordinated to the City Hall. These companies could hire up to 5,000 employees.

“I want to announce, for the first time, that the City Hall will organize a job fair in the coming period, for the jobs that will be created by the Municipality’s 20 joint-stock companies, which were recently approved by the municipal councilors,” mayor Gabriela Firea said on Wednesday.

“This job fair will target mothers who want to return to work but their jobs weren’t kept for them, although the law has clear provisions in this sense, or maybe mothers who want to make a jump in their careers by accessing these jobs. The fair will also target young people who failed to pass the Baccalaureate exam and want to work while getting ready for the next exam as well as students.”

The City Hall announced at the end of February its intention to set up several companies that would handle various public utility activities that are now delegated to private companies or departments within the City Hall. The City Council approved the creation of these companies in its meetings.
