Belgian group reaches EUR 100 mln shopping centers in Romania

Belgian firm Mitiska REIM, specialized in shopping center investments, has acquired 11 shopping centers and 3 projects from Alpha Property Development, a transaction that has increased its portfolio in Romania to 19 retail parks and 4 development projects, worth over EUR 100 million.

The 11 shopping centers taken over from Alpha Property Development, a division of the Intercora German real estate group, have a total area of over 55,000 sqm. They are leased to local and international brands such as Deichmann, Takko and Pepco, and have as anchors the retailers Lidl and Kaufmann.

"This transaction brings Mitiska REIM’s assets under management in Romania to in excess of EUR 100 million, making us now the clear market leader in the Romanian retail park market," said the Belgian group's president Luc Geuten.

Alpha Property Development is a Romanian company specialized in developing and investing in retail warehouses in Romania. The company is part of the Intercora group, a German-based real estate developer and developer, which has developed more than 250 shopping centers in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania.
