Average net wage in Romania, up 0.5% in September vs. August

The average net wage in Romania went up by 0.5% in September compared to August, to RON 2,376 (EUR 518), according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INS).

The average net salary was 13.5% higher in September compared to the same month of last year.

The highest average net wage was recorded in the IT services sector, namely RON 6,022 (EUR 1,309). The lowest average salary was in the hotel and restaurant sector, RON 1,399 (EUR 304).

Most sectors registered wage increases in September compared to August due to occasional bonuses. Employees in the oil and gas extraction sector got a 15.8% average wage increase over the previous month as the oilman’s day was celebrated in September. Meanwhile, employees in the coal extraction sector saw an 8.4% wage drop.
