AmCham: Romania needs long-term investment plan

23 May 2018

Romania needs a coherent long-term investment plan that is both sustainable and visionary to increase its economic development potential without putting macroeconomic balance at risk, according to AmCham Romania, one of the biggest business organizations in the country.

“A change in approach to economic growth is needed from a one based on quantity to one based on quality, which reflects the way in which people and companies feel the economy’s progress. The quality of life, purchasing power, infrastructure and public services quality become more important as an expression of wellbeing in an economy,” said AmCham president Anda Todor.

Public and private investments, accelerated EU fund absorption, foreign investments and developing the capital market are needed to transfer wellness to citizens, according to a new AmCham report.

“We recommend drafting and assuming anational investment plan on the model of the Investment Plan for Europe the European Commission launched in 2014. Such a plan should include a pillar of setting and financing strategic investments for Romania, especially in the public sector,” said Daniela Nemoianu, AmCham vice president.
