18 December 2017

Turkish group Akim Metal will open a factory in Vacaresti, Dambovita county, which will supply components for the Arctic washing machines produced by the Turkish group Arçelik in Romania.

The investment is estimated at EUR 50 million, reports local Profit.ro.

Akim decided to open the plant after Arçelik had announced that it would build a new washing machine factory in Ulmi, Dambovita county. The washing machine factory will be operated by Arcelik’s local subsidiary Arctic, which also owns a refrigerator factory in Gaesti.

The Akim factory will be opened next summer via the local firm Curent Metal that it established this year in Romania. The plant will be built on an area of 11,000 sqm and will have about 900 employees.

Akim Metal, a manufacturer of components in the household appliance industry, has been on the market for about 40 years, with 8 factories in Turkey.

The Arctic investment in Dambovita is estimated at EUR 103 million and will create 480 jobs over the next seven years.
