Romanian Ioan Boieriu, 37, was part of the visual effects team that won this Sunday an Oscar for Visual Effects for their work on The Jungle Book, Mediafax reports.

Brasov-born Boieriu was a senior effects technical director in a visual effects team of more than 2,200 members. Several other Romanian names can be found in the team, including software developer Vlad Dumitrache, effects technical director Radu Ciubotaru or motion editor Razvan Vacar.

A graduate of the Brasov Informatics Faculty, Boieriu is currently living in Vancouver, Canada, and works for visual effects company Scanline VFX. Before moving to Canada, he lived in Germany and in New Zeeland, wherehe worked for a 3D films company.

Boeriu posted a message on Facebook after the Oscar winners were announced, saying he was proud to have worked on this project.

Romania co-produced film Toni Erdmann was this year in the race for an Oscar for Best Foreign Film. The award went to Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi for The Salesman.
