World Travel Awards contest selects leading hotels in Romania

World Travel Awards, one of the best-known contests in the travel tourists and hospitality industry, has recently announced its winners for this year, including for Romania.

The Athenee Palace Hilton hotel in Bucharest was named Romania’s Leading Hotel in 2016 at the World Travel Awards Gala in Sardinia.

Radisson Blu is Romania’s Leading Business Hotel in 2016, while The Rizzo Boutique Hotel in Poiana Brasov became Romania’s Leading Boutique Hotel this year.

Last year, the prize for Romania’s Leading Hotel went to JW Marriott while the Intercontinental was named Romania’s Leading Business Hotel and Hotel Epoque won Romania’s Leading Boutique Hotel.

The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 and started granting prizes for the best hotels in each country in 2004. Since then, namely Athenee Palace Hilton, JW Marriott, Intercontinental Bucharest, and Radisson Blu have split the nominations and prizes for leading hotel and leading business hotel.

Some of this year’s winners at the World Travel Awards Europe Gala were Lufthansa –Europe’s Leading Airline, Europcar – Europe’s Leading Car, and Hilton Hotels&Resorts – Europe’s Leading Hotel Brand.

Russia’s Sankt Petersburg was voted Europe’s Leading Destination, Algarve in Portugal was named Europe's Leading Beach Destination, Lyon in France - Europe's Leading City Break Destination, Lisbon - Europe's Leading Cruise Destination, Madeira Islands - Europe's Leading Island Destination, and Paris - Europe's Leading Meetings & Conference Destination.
