Women of a new tribe - photo exhibition by Jerry Taliaferro, this week in Bucharest

A photography exhibition called “Women of a New Tribe”, featuring works by Jerry Taliaferro, will start on March 9, from 18.00 hours, at the “Gheorghe Focsa” Exhibition Hall in the “Dimitrie Gusti” National Village Museum (Kiseleff Blvd. 28-30), where the exhibition opening event will be organized. The event is organized by the American Cultural Center and the Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum. This is a photographic tribute to the physical and inner beauty of African-American women. “Women of a New Tribe” is an extensive photographic project recently launched by photographer Jerry Taliaferro, after a career of nearly three decades of photography. The exhibition contains 200 photos. Jerry Taliaferro was born in the town of Brownsville, Tennessee. After graduating high school in 1972, he joined the Army. His real interest in photography began when he was posted to North Carolina for Special Forces training in 1981. While serving in Germany, his interest in photography continued to grow and in 1985 his works were published for the first time when a Munich magazine purchased the rights to one of his images. In July 1988, he left the military and began his pursuit of a career in commercial photography. Over the years his interest turned more to fine art photography.
