Wizz Air to introduce direct flights between Bucharest and Warsaw next summer

Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air will introduce a new route between Bucharest and Warsaw in June 2017.

The company announced on Tuesday that it would add a new aircraft to the base in Warsaw in June next year, and inaugurate seven new routes from the Polish capital, including the one to Bucharest.

The flights to and from the Romanian capital will be operated four times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, starting June 30. Tickets are already available on Wizz Air’s website, for prices starting at EUR 29.99.

Wizz Air’s first flight from Bucharest took off in 2007. The airline is currently operating 123 routes to 54 destinations from 10 Romanian airports.

The company plans to increase its local fleet to 20 aircraft by the end of the year. In 2016, the airline announced 30 new routes from Romania, including the first domestic route between Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca.

In the last 12 months (by September 30), Wizz Air carried more than 5.5 million passengers to and from Romania.

In September, the airline started operating flights between Romania’s capital Bucharest and Hungary’s Budapest.
