Wizz Air connects Romania and Hungary's capitals with direct flights

22 September 2016

Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air started operating flights between Romania's capital Bucharest and Hungary's Budapest on Wednesday, September 21.

The new route has three flights a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. One-way tickets are available on the company’s website for prices that start from RON 69 (EUR 15.5).

Wizz Air’s first flight from Bucharest took off in 2007. Since then, the company has continuously grown its low-fare network in Romania, currently offering 120 routes to 18 countries from ten Romanian airports. Its local team includes 600 employees.

The airline also plans to increase its local fleet to 20 aircraft by end-2016. In the 12 months ended August 31, Wizz Air carried more than 5 million passengers to and from Romania.

The company announced earlier this month that it would start operating flights from the airport in Satu Mare, northern-western Romania, at the end of October.
