Who will represent Romania in EY’s Entrepreneur Of The Year final in Monte Carlo?

Mircea Tudor, founder of MB telecom, was recently elected the big winner of EY’s Entrepreneur Of The Year competition in Romania. He will compete for the World Entrepreneur Of The Year award in the final global competition to be organized in Monte Carlo in 2015.

Romanian Mircea Tudor founded MB Telecom, the only SME in the world that is active in the field of radioactive scanning technology and the only company in the world to win for the second time the Grand Prix of the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva. The company has been developing the ROBOSCAN technology, which is used for scanning cargo vehicles at border checkpoints and small to medium planes.

Cristi Badea, founder of social games creator Mavenhut (best known for Solitaire Arena), was named Emerging Entrepreneur Of The Year, while Istvan Mar, the president of the Fructul Secuiesc association, was named Social Entrepreneur of the Year.

To select the winners of the competition in Romania, the jury reviewed each application based on six criteria: entrepreneurial spirit, financial performance, strategic direction, the impact on the community, capacity for innovation and personal integrity.

A total of 40 Romanian entrepreneurs took part in the competition, while 12 of them made it to the final. The 12 businessmen lead top companies with total revenues of almost EUR 500 million and a total of some 8,000 employees.

The finalists for the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year were Mircea Tudor – MB Telecom, Anca Vlad –Fildas Catena Group, Adrian Mihai - FAN Courier, Marius Stefan - Autonom Rent a Car, Dragos Petrescu –City Grill Group and Samy Numan – Nimet, while the three finalists for the Emerging Entrepreneur Of The Year were Cristi Badea – Mavenhut, Simona Baciu - Transylvania College and Daniel Truica - Vola.ro. The three Romanian entrepreneurs who competed for the Social Entrepreneur Of The Year title were Istvan Mar - Fructul Secuiesc Association, Laila Onu - Fundatia pentru Voi and Oana Paun - Impact Hub.

The competition was launched in Romania in May 2014. EY Entrepreneur Of The Year takes place in 145 cities from 60 countries for more than 30 years, and awards entrepreneurs for their vision and strategic direction in growing their businesses, for their power to innovate, their personal integrity and the positive impact on the community.
