The largest number of passengers who departed from Bucharest’s Henri Coanda Airport (Otopeni Airport) last year traveled to London, according to data from the Bucharest National Airports Company (CNAB). The flights to England’s capital thus surpassed flights to Paris or Rome, in terms of number of passengers.

Moreover, most of the planes flying from the Otopeni Airport, which is also the largest airport in Romania, are heading to London airports such as Heathrow, Luton, Gatwick, and Stansted, reports local Mediafax. A total of 69 flights are scheduled to link Bucharest to London this summer, on a weekly basis.

Some of the airlines that operate flights to London from Bucharest’s main airport are Wizz Air, Tarom, Blue Air, British Airways, and Ryanair. Almost 140,000 Romanians leave in the UK, but the Romanian citizens also spend their holidays in England’s capital.

The Henri Coanda Airport registered 9.27 million passengers last year, almost one million more than in the previous year. This represented the largest increase in three years.
