What will the weather in Romania be like on Easter?

May 1 is a special day this year, as both the Orthodox Easter and the Labor Day will be celebrated on this date. So, what will the weather be like on this special weekend?

Romania’s National Meteorological Administration (ANM) estimates that the weather will be normal for this period of year until May 1, after a few hot weeks in the beginning of April and an abrupt cooling this week. ANM has made a forecast for all the country's regions, namely Banat, Crisana, Transylvania, Maramures, Moldova, Dobrogea, Muntenia, Oltenia and the mountain areas.

  • Banat (includes Timisoara and Arad)

The weather will remain relatively cold until April 21, with average daytime temperatures of 16-17 degrees Celsius. Then, the weather will stay normal until the end of the month (including May 1), with temperatures of 18-20 degrees Celsius being forecasted for this period. Lower temperatures might be registered between April 25 and April 28. The temperatures will also remain within normal limits during the night, after April 22. Rain is expected between April 24 and April 26.

  • Crisana (includes Oradea)

The weather will also be cold in this region until April 21, with average daytime temperatures of 14-16 degrees Celsius. The weather will then get back to normal until the end of the month (including May 1), with temperatures of up to 19 degrees Celsius. However, it might get a little bit colder on April 27-28. Moreover, it might rain between April 24 and April 26.

  • Transylvania (includes Brasov, Sibiu, Cluj-Napoca)

Meteorologists forecast cold weather until April 21 and temperatures of up to 17 degrees Celsius after that date. Between April 27 and May 1, the temperatures will stay between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius. Rain is expected on April 24 and April 25.

  • Maramures (includes Baia Mare)

Meteorologists estimate 17 degrees Celsius until April 26 and temperatures of 13-16 degrees Celsius between April 27 and May 1. The nighttime temperatures will stay between 2 and 6 degrees Celsius between April 23 and May 1, and rain is expected between April 24 and April 26.

  • Moldova (includes Iasi, Suceava)

After a relatively cold weather until April 21, the temperatures will go up to 18 degrees Celsius by April 24 and will stay around 17 degrees Celsius between April 25 and May 1. Meteorologists also forecast rain in this region for April 24 and April 25.

  • Dobrogea (includes Constanta and the seaside resorts)

The weather will get back to normal after April 21, daytime temperatures of up to 19 degrees Celsius being forecasted until May 1. During the night, the temperatures will stay around 7-10 degrees Celsius. Rain is expected on April 24 and April 25.

  • Muntenia (includes Bucharest, Ploiesti)

The weather will stay cold until April 22, but the temperatures will go up to an average of 21 degrees Celsius until May 1. The same as in the other regions, it might rain on April 24 and April 25.

  • Oltenia (includes Craiova, Slatina)

After temperatures of 17-18 degrees Celsius until April 22, the weather will get warmer until May 1, temperatures of 19-20 degrees Celsius being anticipated for this period. The nighttime temperatures will stay at around 5-8 degrees Celsius, and rain will take over the region on April 24-25.

  • In the mountain areas, the temperatures will remain at around 5 degrees Celsius until April 22, but will then increase to 9 degrees Celsius until April 26. For the April 27 – May 1 period, the meteorologists forecast a lower temperature of 5-7 degrees Celsius. During the night, the temperatures will stay around 2 and -2 degrees Celsius. Rain is expected on April 24-25.
