15 April 2016

The Romanian authorities haven’t yet implemented the regulations on overtime, according to the US State Department’s Human Rights Report 2015.

Working overtime without being paid is a common practice in the financial-banking sector, in constructions, and textile industry.

The union leaders said that the employees’ main problem in 2015 was overtime. Employees were obliged to work additional hours quite often, and they weren’t paid for them.

Most work accidents took place during the overtime, according to the report.

Several employers paid the overtime without legal forms to avoid paying taxes.
