Two Syrians try to enter Romania hidden in truck’s toolbox
Two Syrian citizens were caught on Thursday morning while they were trying to enter Romania illegally, hidden in a truck’s toolbox.
On Thursday morning at around 03:00, a truck loaded with metal pipes was stopped at the border checkpoint between Bulgaria and Romania. The truck, driven by a 54 years-old Turkish citizen, was supposed to transport the metal pipes to Germany.
A joint team of Romanian and Bulgarian officers checked the vehicle and discovered two men hidden in the truck’s toolbox, according to a statement from the Border Police. Preliminary investigations showed that the two men were Syrian citizens. They told the Police that they were planning to get to Germany.
Under the Romanian-Bulgarian Protocol, both the migrants and the driver were handed over to the Bulgarian Police for investigations.
Last week, the Police caught a Pakistani man who was trying to enter Romania illegally, hidden under a truck, on the spare wheel.
