Update: Six Romanians dead, 17 missing after earthquake in Italy

Update 2 (Friday, August 26): A sixth Romanian victim has been identified after the earthquake in central Italy on Wednesday, August 24, Romania’s Foreign Affairs Ministry announced on Friday morning. Some 17 other Romanian citizens are missing and five are injured, but their condition is stable.

A total of 267 people lost their lives and some 400 have been injured following the earthquake, according to the latest data from the Italian Civil Protection Service.

Update: Romania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the death of three more Romanian citizens following the earthquake in Italy on Wednesday night. This brings the toll to five Romanian victims. Some 11 more are missing, according to the latest data.

Two Romanians have lost their lives and four have been injured in the earthquake that shook Italy’s central region on Wednesday night, August 24. Eight other Romanian citizens have been reported missing, according to new data presented by Romania’s Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The Romanian authorities initially announced one dead and two injured following the earthquake.

The total death toll also increased. At least 247 people were killed after the 6.2-magnitude earthquake, according to Italy's Civil Protection Department.
