Transylvania College aims to raise EUR 50,000 for 10 students at charity ball

10 November 2016

Cluj-based Transylvania College will organize the 16th edition of the Scholarship Society ball this Friday. At this event, the college aims to raise more than EUR 50,000, or 60% of the amount necessary to sustain ten full scholarships for students with outstanding results.

A total of 10 students enrolled in the 2016-2017 Scholarship Society program, the total value of their schooling amounting to EUR 84,000. The school hopes to raise 60% of this amount during the charity ball this Friday, while the difference is to be covered with the help of other partners of Transylvania College Foundation.

Some 250 people were invited to this year’s edition of the ball, including parents, representatives of the local and national business community, and representatives of local institutions such as the Cluj-Napoca City Hall, the County Council, the Dutch Consulate, and British Business Council.

During the charity event, the participants will be able to take part in two auctions – live and silent, during which they will have the chance to earn unique items such as a tennis racket signed by Romanian tennis ace Simona Halep. The guests will also be able to bid for unique experiences, such as getting a gig in one of the next two films directed by Tudor Giurgiu.

The funds raised during the previous edition of the event amounted to some EUR 37,000. The money was enough to support the scholarships for five students. Overall, thanks to the first 15 editions of the event, the total value of scholarships reached EUR 530,000.

The Scholarship Society ball will take place at the Transylvania Forum hall in Cluj-Napoca, on November 11.
