26 April 2016

The three largest local lenders BCR, BRD, and Banca Transilvania have some 3,000 foreclosed apartments and houses on sale, at prices below the market average.

A three-room apartment in Bucharest, located near the Piata Sudului metro station, has a starting price of EUR 23,000. The auction will take place in May, reports local Ziarul Financiar.

The banks have also put up for sale foreclosed hotels and gas stations. BCR has a gas station located in the Buzau county, with a starting price of EUR 177,000.

Banks also sell cars. BRD, for example, has put up for sale a Jeep from 2006 for EUR 5,100.

Banks have foreclosed thousands of properties from those who couldn’t repay their loans in the last years.
