The Timisoara International Airport saw an increase of 9% in the number of passengers in the first five months of the year, reaching almost 377,000 people. The number of landings and takeoffs rose by 11% to 4,925, according to the company.

The passengers’ favorite destinations included Bucharest, Munich and London. They accounted for 18.4%, 17.4%, respectively 11.1% of all flights.

The freight traffic saw an increase of 63% during this period, from 947 tons in the first months of 2015 to 1,544 between January and May this year.

The growth rate will remain the same throughout the year, as the airlines Ryanair and Blue Air will start operating flights from September 1, respectively October 1, this year, said Dan Idolu, director of the Timisoara International Airport.
