Three Romanians managed to escape from a prison in Florence on Monday evening, the Italian media reports.

Danut Costel Ciocan, Costel Bordeiano, and Constantin Catalin Doncin, who were serving time for a series of thefts, cut the bars of their prison cell and then descended the wall using ropes made of bed sheets, reports Italian newspaper La Nazione. The prison officers noticed that three Romanians were missing about half an hour after their escape, during the inspection.

The Romanians apparently managed to run away with a car that was waiting for them outside the prison. Thus, the authorities believe that the prisoners had accomplices.

The local police are now trying to find the Romanian prisoners. All three of them were part of a crime group specialized in burglaries, which the Italian police dismantled in early-February. The group was made of 25 people, all Romanians.
