Three injured after train hits car in western Romania
Three people were injured after a train hit their car on Friday morning. All victims were taken to the hospital, two of them in critical condition.
The Timis Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU Timis) was notified about the severe rail accident on Friday morning at around 04:30. The incident occurred in Giroc commune, near Timisoara, in western Romania.
An InterRegio train traveling from Timisoara to Buzias with no passengers on board hit a Toyota Avensis car and dragged it 200m on the train line, ISU Timis announced. Two of the three people in the car were incarcerated, and one was blocked. An extraction team from ISU Timis took the victims out and gave them medical first aid on the spot.
Railway traffic between Timisoara and Buzias was blocked for about an hour.
