Three airlines cancel flights from Bucharest Airport due to bad weather

06 January 2017

Three airlines have canceled flights from Bucharest’s Otopeni Airport due to the bad weather, the Bucharest Airports National Company (CNAB) announced on Friday.

Tarom has canceled the 627/628 Bucharest – Oradea – Bucharest and 702 Iasi – Otopeni domestic flights, while Ryanair has canceled the 435/436 Timisoara – Bucharest – Timisoara flights.

Moreover, several international flights carried out by Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air were also canceled, namely 3001/3002 Bucharest – London – Bucharest, 3051/3052 Bucharest – Paris – Bucharest, 3081/3082 Bucharest – Charleroi – Bucharest, and 3201/3203 Bucharest – Stockholm – Bucharest.

Moreover, some flights register delays at the takeoff, mainly due to the need to defrost the aircraft. Some flights can have delays of up to one hour. More information can be found here.

CNAB recommends passengers to take the necessary measures to be at the airport on time, especially given that the road traffic is mode difficult.

On Friday morning, the Ministry of Interior announced that the airports in Constanta, Arad and Baia Mare were closed so that the tracks could be cleaned. Moreover, all the Black Sea ports were also closed, as well as the A2 highway linking Bucharest to Constanta seaside resort and several national roads. Updated info about the roads can be found here (in Romanian).

Several trains were also canceled or are registering delays. A list of canceled trains can be found here.

In Bucharest, metro operator Metrorex has decided to increase the number of trains on lines 1, 2 and 3 on Friday.
