Dedicated to the legendary pianist Dinu Lipatti, the Lipatti Days (Zilele Lipatti) Festival starting on October 1 will feature a series of events marking 95 years since his birth. October 1 is also the international day of music.
‘Vino si canta!’ (Come and sing!) is a chance for anyone who can play a little bit of piano to meet musicians and learn something about the basics of music. Regardless of age or ability everyone is invited to play instruments located in the Old Center, at the intersection between Lipscani and Smârdan (from 12.00 to 22.00), Coltei Park (16.00 to 22.00) and AFI Palace Cotroceni (from 17.00 to 22.00), and there will be a series of additional prizes awarded by lottery.
A new documentary about the life of Dinu Lipatti will also be screened during the festival, as well as a photo exhibition showing pictures of the famous musician throughout his career.
The festival will end on December 2 – the day Dinu Lipatti died, after a musical marathon including a series of concerts at the Romanian Athenaeum, featuring Nikolai Lugansky from Russia and Alfredo Perl from Chile, as well as Romanian artists Andrei Licareţ and Mihai Ritivoiu.
