Telekom Romania wants to enter the insurance market

Local telecom player Telekom Romania wants to enter the insurance brokerage sector.

The company plans to broker insurance policies connected to some of the products it distributes, reports local Economica.net.

Telekom has already entered the financial service sector. Last year the firm has announced its intention to introduce financial services, such as financing the acquisition of a smartphone. It concluded a partnership with the Polish bank Alior Bank.

Telekom Romania is owned by the German group Deutsche Telekom, and includes the former local companies Romtelecom and Cosmote Romania.

Telekom is the biggest telecom group in Romania in terms of revenues with a turnover of over EUR 1 billion in 2015.
