Romanian airline Tarom cancels flights due to technical issues

27 June 2016

Romanian state-owned airline Tarom canceled three return flights on Sunday, June 26, due to unforeseen technical problems. The flights were supposed to take passengers from Bucharest’s Henri Coanda Airport to Prague, Paris, and Geneva. The return flights from these cities were also cancelled.

“Due to an unforeseen technical situation, we had to rethink our flight schedule depending on the availability of other aircraft. Thus, today we’ve canceled the flights to Prague, Paris, and Geneva. We’re sorry for the inconvenience, but we want safe trips for our passengers. All passengers of these flights were rerouted to their final destination,” Tarom representatives told local Mediafax on Sunday.

Two of Tarom's planes were unavailable on Sunday because of technical issues that needed to be fixed, the company's representatives explained.

The situation has caused overcrowding on the company's other flights, according to local Digi24.

Tarom has a fleet of 23 planes made by three different producers (Airbus, Boeing, and ATR). This has been causing the company problems with its fleet maintenance. The Transport Ministry said earlier this year that company needed to restructure its fleet and have fewer types of planes so that it would manage them more easily.
