Swedish debt restructuring firm could enter Romania

05 April 2016

Swedish debt restructuring firm Hoist Finance could expand to new markets, including to Romania.

The introduction of new capital standards means higher costs for the European banks, but for Hoist Finance, the Basel III standards represent a true gold mine, according to Bloomberg.

The company is already active in the UK, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Poland, Italy, and Austria. Besides Romania, it could also expand to Spain, Portugal, Ireland, and Greece.

The Swedish firm helps international banks such as Deutsche Bank and Banco Santander restructure their debts by acquiring or managing non-performing consumer loans.

The new capital requirements will force more banks to get rid of their loans, according to Hoist Finance.
