Summer gets hot in Romania on Pentecost mini-break

14 June 2016

After Romania has barely seen the sun in the last few days, the summer will get hot this weekend, just in time for the Pentecost (Rusalii) mini-break.

Romania will celebrate the Pentecost (Rusalii) on Sunday (June 19) and Monday (June 20), which means that the Romanians will have a longer weekend at the end of this working week.

And the good news doesn’t stop here. After several rainy days, the summer will get hot in Romania this weekend, with temperatures of some 35 degrees Celsius being forecasted for some areas.

The temperatures will start to increase on Wednesday and will continue to go up in the coming days. A heat wave is expected to hit southern and south-eastern Europe this weekend, including Romania, and the maximum temperatures will go way over the normal temperatures for this period.

In Bucharest, the daytime temperatures are expected to go up to over 33 degrees Celsius between June 17 and June 20. Those who are not big fans of heat could spend the Pentecost mini-break in mountain resorts, as the temperatures are to stay around 26 degrees Celsius in the mountain regions.

Romanians will have another legal day off on the Assumption day, on August 15 (Monday). The next legal days off will be on St. Andrew’s Day – November 30 (Wednesday), the National Day of Romania – December 1 (Thursday), and the first and second days of Christmas – December 25 and December 26 (Sunday and Monday).
