Stolen prototype laptop from Bucharest hotel delays Asus NX90 launch in Romania

Asus Romania has delayed the official launch of the new NX90 notebook, which was scheduled for September, after the model was stolen mid-August from the hotel where the laptop was exhibited, the company has announced. The prototype, which has not entered the series production yet, was one of the few prototypes of this model available in Romania. The company is now awaiting to receive a new prototype from Taiwan.

The notebook was stolen during the night on August 11 from a hotel in Bucharest. The police investigation is ongoing.

The Asus NX90 model has a commercial value above RON 10,000. The model was shown for the first time at the CES fair this year. It includes Bang & Olufsen ICEpower and Sonic Master technologies and its design was created by David Lewis, the chief designer with Bang & Olufsen.

The story about the stolen laptop was reported internationally by Gizmodo. Read it here. Before the Asus announcement about delaying the launch in Romania, media suspected this was a publicity stunt.
