State pays Romanians abroad who invest in the country

31 August 2016

The Romanians living abroad who want to return to the country will get a grant of up to EUR 50,000 to start a business here, according to a government plan.

The plan will be launched for public debate at the beginning of September, said Claudiu Vrinceanu, state secretary in the Economy Ministry, reports local Agerpres.

The EU Funds Ministry will implement the program, which will have a total budget of EUR 30 million. The money will come from European funds. Each beneficiary will receive up to EUR 50,000, that will cover 90% of the planned investment.

Vranceanu said that the Government wanted to implement the plan as quickly as possible, starting this fall.

The future entrepreneurs will also benefit from consultancy and training in business. It is important to offer not only grants, but also training, Vrinceanu said.

He added that it was also critical to promote these programs honestly, as people working abroad have little trust in the Romanian state.
