Several multinationals start the year with salary increases in Romania

French hypermarket chain Carrefour, Swedish furniture retailer IKEA, and American restaurant chains KFC and Pizza Hut have announced significant wage increases for their employees this year.

French retailer Carrefour has increased the salaries of 95% of its employees in Romania starting February 1. The wage growths vary between 16 and 21%.

Swedish retailer Ikea has announced that it would increase the gross minimum salary of its full-time employees from RON 1,353 (EUR 302) to RON 2,000 (EUR 450) starting May this year. This means a 47% growth in the gross minimum wage between December 2015 and May 2016.

The fast food chains KFC and Pizza Hut in Romania have recently announced that they increased the employees’ salaries by 20% on average.
