Salaries of non-teaching staff in education go up in Romania

The non-teaching staff working in Romania’s public education sector will benefit from higher salaries starting this month, after the Government approved yesterday an emergency ordinance increasing their wages.

According to the new wage scale, the salaries will range between RON 1,450 and RON 1,947 (EUR 320-EUR 430) based on seniority. About 53,000 people will benefit from the wage increases.

According to the Government, the bill will solve a number of problems in the remuneration of non-teaching staff in secondary education and university.

The salary increases will involve a financial effort of about RON 90 million (EUR 20 million). The money will be paid from the budget of the Education Ministry.
