Romania's unemployment rate reaches 6.1% in July
Romania’s unemployment rate reached 6.1% at the end of July, up 0.1 percentage point over the previous month, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The number of unemployed people in Romania, aged 15-74, totaled 546,000 at the end of July. By comparison, the country had 624,000 unemployed people in the same period last year.
The unemployment rate among men reached 6.9% whereas the rate among women was 5%. The share of the unemployed aged 25-74 totaled 78.7% of the total number of people without jobs.
The unemployed are defined as people aged 15-76 who don’t have a job, are available to start work in the next two weeks, and have been actively seeking a job in the last four weeks.
