Romania's tax agency president resigns

13 January 2017

Dragos Doros resigned yesterday evening from his office as president of Romania’s tax agency ANAF, sources from the Finance Ministry told local Profit.ro.

Doros was appointed to lead ANAF in March 2016 by former Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos. His decision to resign is related to statements of finance minister Viorel Stefan on the removal of the controversial tax form 008 for companies.

The minister announced on Thursday that he would remove the tax form and that he’d analyze the activity of the ANAF president suggesting that the two measures were related. However, the tax form had been introduced by the former ANAF president Gelu Stefan Diaconu, during the Victor Ponta Government. Doros brought two amendments to this tax form to make it simpler.

The finance minister said during the Government meeting that the performance of the current ANAF management would be assessed, and measures would be taken “accordingly”.
