Romania's Sibiu may become a European Region of Gastronomy
Sibiu is the first county in Romania that can become a European Region of Gastronomy in 2019. The international jury will announce their decision next week, on September 29.
No other Romanian city held this title before. The title was first awarded last year and is currently held by a region in Spain and one in Portugal.
The international jury will meet in Sibiu, at the Brukenthal National Museum, reports local Agerpres. The members will choose between the Sibiu region and the South Aegean Region in Greece.
In 2007, Sibiu was awarded the European Capital of Culture title. It was the first Romanian city to receive this title.
